March Family Field Trip/Family Pictures

We went to my parent's house for Easter weekend.  While we were there we were able to visit my brother's family and spend some time with my parents.  We had a lot of fun.

We also took new family pictures.  They turned out pretty good considering that Lucy wouldn't smile and Bruce wouldn't look at the camera.  Karina always does well.
I have to crop this a little and I would like to edit all of them, but I haven't done it yet.
 She is so stinkin cute.
 The camera loves this one.
Put the boy in a tree and he will smile.
My cute kiddos.

February Family Field Trip

I have some catching up to do, so we will start in February.

In February we went to Jumpin Jungle.  It is this really cool bounce house place here in Nampa (or at least it was, it closed last month).  We went when G-ma Debbie was in town and the kids had a blast!!!
Karina was getting very brave .
Alan is showing off his skills here.  Mad skillz!

Karina and Bruce could have played until they passed out I am pretty sure.
They even have 6 little cars for the very little kids to play in.  Lucy loved them.

Alan and Karina fought it out in the Gladiator ring.  I did this as well with Alan and I lost big time.
Lucy and I went down the slide.
Alan and the kids going down the slide.
Alan and ALL the kids going down the slide.

We had a great time and are a little bummed that the Jungle has closed.  I am glad we got to go while we had the chance though.

Family Field Trips Revisited- January

Last year we had a family goal to have one family field trip a month, but we set some pretty tight requirements.  We said that it had to be educational And fairly inexpensive.  Those two things do not always work together very well.  We didn't do very well at completing that goal, so this year we made the goal again, but with a few differences.

This year the activity does not have to be educational, just fun.  And it needs to be something out of the ordinary that we do together as a family.  Pretty simple.

For January our options were a bit limited.  It was ridiculously cold and there wasn't anything we could do outside so we decided to make our own fun at home and have a camp out in the living room.

Alan set up a "tent."  The kids loved it, and so did the dogs.

We had a picnic dinner consisting of chili dogs, apple slices, and peach dump cake with ice cream.
Then it was time for PJ's and rough-housing.
We all had a great time, but I think Lucy's expression pretty much sums it up.
We all slept in the living room.  The kids and I made it all night, but Alan went to his bed around 5:00 am.  It wasn't a restful sleep, but I was pretty proud of my 30 year old body for sticking it out.

Family Field Trip #5

For family field trip #5 we went to the zoo with Alan's brother's family.  The kids had a great time and Alan and I enjoyed it as well.
Bruce loved the meerkats.
Karina and her cousin Elsie.  They had a fun time together.
 The three amigos.
The kids could have spent hours playing on this jeep.  Great idea Zoo Boise!
Checking out the giant rabbits.
Lucy tolerated our trip.  She was digging the double stroller.
We visited the petting zoo.  Alan loves goats!
This is a life size tiger.  I think it could eat all of the children.  Kinda scary.
Bruce decided to stay away from the killer tiger.

We had a great time at the zoo.  Not pictured; Candice almost steps on a wallaby...OK it was a baby wallaby.  It was an accident.  I promise.

Family Field Trip #4

So for family field trip #4 we went to Mesa Falls in eastern Idaho.  I have been here many times and I am always amazed at how beautiful and terrifying the falls really are.

We started the trip off by going to warm river to feed the fish.  There are literally hundreds of fish here; maybe even thousands.  We brought a few rolls and fed the fish.  It was fun to see them pop up and eat.  I still find this as fascinating as I did when I was a kid.  My dad brought us here to feed the fish when I was 6 and I still remember it.  I am hoping these family field trips create the same kind of memories for my kids.
I could wipe this kid's nose all day and it would still be a mess.
Grandpa Jack came with us
Karina thought this was pretty fun
Beautiful View
Our next stop was Mesa Falls.  We only did the upper view.  Lucy was only 5 days old at this point so we took it easy.
This was on the way down to the falls.  They weren't so happy on the way back up.  :)
Field trip #4 was a success.  We are behind a few trips so hopefully numbers 5 and 6 will be posted soon!

Family Field Trip #3

Family Field Trip #3

We took the kids to the MK Nature Center in Boise.  It is basically an education center on conservation and there is a lot about fish there.  We had a great time and the kids got to run around so it was all good.

Starting our adventure

A beaver got this one.

Very Beautiful

Explorers

Bruce thinks he can read.

We are owls!
End of the trip we finally found the jackpot.  This contraption shows kids how to make dams and waterways.  Kinda cool.
